Sine Qua Non

The Latin phrase sine qua non translates to “without which not.” In other words, it's something essential—indispensable—without which a result cannot happen.

At Vegas Stronger, we provide what we call the 13 Essential Elements of care. These aren’t theoretical. They’re not just checkboxes. They are real, tangible services that, without them, our clients wouldn’t get better. For the people we serve, they are sine qua non.

We work with individuals who are often left behind by traditional healthcare systems: BIPOC communities, Medicaid recipients, and people experiencing homelessness. We know, because the data shows, that these populations have longer wait times, shorter treatment durations, and significantly lower success rates than commercial populations. And we know that the length of time someone stays in treatment is the single biggest predictor of a successful outcome.

That’s why we don’t wait for our clients to figure it out. We bring them what they need to stay in care. Take transportation. To someone with private insurance and a car in the garage, a ride might feel like a courtesy. But to a person living on the street, it's the difference between showing up or falling through the cracks. It’s sine qua non.

Same goes for medication. Same goes for case management to help someone get an ID, apply for benefits, or find a place to sleep that night. These are not bonus features. They’re not add-ons. They are the absolute foundation of survival and recovery.
